I had a great experience at Regina. the hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes away from the bus station and Catete Metro station. the area is quiet and safe, yet close to Catete street which offers a vibrant nightlife with its botecas, sandvicerias, and restaurants. the staff at the reception was polite and helpful, and the staff in the restaurant was also very friendly and sociable.
The breakfast was delicious, although the coffee could have been better. Cons: None.

It was close to the centre. The room was comfortable and clean, and generally quiet. The breakfast was good - a nice variety of juices, pastries, etc.
We had to spend a long time telling them we had a made a booking on Booked.net, and when they eventually found it, they told us to call back later to ensure it had been entered on their main system. A lot of the porters and receptionists were rude - when we asked them something, their responses were typically abrupt and gave just about the minimum amount of help they could get away with. We asked a porter for help getting our luggage from the left-luggage room and he told us to go the desk, then just walked off. The bathroom smelt constantly of sewage. There was a service phone right outside our door which range repeatedly every morning, from 7am. If it was answered, then the staff were talking and laughing loudly. There was no chance of a sleep past 7am.

simple, but perfect. there is everything you need to have a nice stay, and the location is pretty good. staff is really helpful.
maybe a bit expensive for the hotel class, but in Rio everything is expensive.

This hotel is located in a convenient spot, with a metro station nearby allowing easy access to many tourist attractions. the rooms are clean and spacious, with effective air-conditioning. the breakfast is delicious with a variety of juices. the front desk staff are very helpful, providing directions and recommending cheap transportation options.
One minor drawback is that the beach in front of the hotel is known to be permanently polluted and not suitable for swimming.

Fantastic breakfast and nice, clean rooms; but do not post cards/letters there!
Do not post cards/letters there, they totally overcharge!

The location was perfect - just three blocks from a Metro Stop with easy access to both Centro and beaches.. The fruit on the breakfast buffet was terrific - all the papaya and mango you could eat. Room was adequate. Hotel was not as run-down as the beach areas.
The desk staff were pretty cagey at times. First they didn't acknowledge the two rooms reserved but tried to get us to take the second at a higher price. They would only be helpful if we used their guides, taxis etc. so they could get their kick-back. Some staff pretended that they didn't understand English when they did. Hair dryers must be checked out at the desk and there very few for an entire hotel.

Very good location. One can walk safely in the streets close to the hotel, there are many shops and restaurants nearby. The metro is close to the hotel what was very practical. The room is big enough and functional. The staff is very friendly and helpful! A very good hotel to pass a few days in Rio de Janeiro.

The hotel was clean and the water in the shower was perfect.
I did not like seeing a security camera everywhere I looked. That made me terribly uncomfortable. Far too invasive.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
